The opt-out, step by step

  1. Open the opt-out search at beenverified.com/app/optout/search. You search from inside the opt-out tool rather than pasting a URL.
  2. Search your first name, surname, and state. If you have lived in several states, you may need to repeat the search per state.
  3. Identify the listing that is actually you. Check the age, the city list, and the named relatives. Opting out a namesake does nothing for you and is unkind to the namesake.
  4. Select the listing and enter an email address. An alias address is sensible here, for the usual reason: you are handing a broker a contact detail.
  5. Complete the CAPTCHA and submit.
  6. Open the confirmation email immediately and click the verification link. This is the step that kills most DIY attempts: the link expires quickly, and once it lapses the whole request is void. Submit, verify, done — in one sitting.
  7. Re-check after twenty-four hours. The listing should be gone from BeenVerified itself; search-engine caches lag by a few days.

Now the siblings

BeenVerified belongs to The Lifetime Value Co., which operates a constellation of adjacent people-search properties: PeopleLooker, NeighborWho, Ownerly, Bumper, NumberGuru, and a rotating cast of smaller lookup tools. Each one holds its own listing for you, and each one requires its own opt-out — same procedure, different domain. Removing yourself from BeenVerified alone is roughly one seventh of the job.

If something goes wrong

When a listing survives the process, or the confirmation email never arrives, email the privacy team at privacy@beenverified.com with the listing URL. US residents can cite the California Consumer Privacy Act (section 1798.105); UK residents can cite UK GDPR Article 17. The statutory framing matters: it converts a customer-service request into a compliance item with a deadline.

The re-listing cycle

The company is unusually candid about this part: some of its properties re-populate from refreshed source records on roughly a thirty-day cycle. In practice we see removed profiles resurface across the family within three to six months, often under a name variant or a new address.
